A field ecologist monitoring Forest Dynamics Plots across boreal, temperate to tropical forests. Recently, focusing on bridging local-scale studies and macroecological theories in terms of biodiversity patterns.

Buntarou kusumoto
POSTDOCTORAL FELLOW

Buntarou focused on biodiversity patterns of tropical liana (as PhD thesis). Recent studies are global-scale plant diversity estimate , spatial prioritization analysis for biodiversity conservation etc. He is skillful at R programming and other computer languages.

Takayuki Shiono
POSTDOCTORAL FELLOW

Takayuki is a climber, vegetation scientist and excellent botanist. Recent studies focus on historical processes shaping plant biodiversity patterns. He is skillful at R programming  and other computer languages.

My research focuses on the biodiversity patterns and processes in various spatial and temporal scales. Above all, I am interested in the issues related with biotic interactions and the relative importance between top-down and bottom-up processes. To reveal the biodiversity patterns and processes of plants is also one of my major interests because plants would be base for the pattern of all the other organisms in terrestrial ecosystems. Development of methodology for capturing (e.g., molecular technique) and evaluating (e.g., diversity index) biodiversity patterns is one of my future subjects.

LIU Cong
JSPS Postdoctoral Fellow

I am an ecologist and evolutionary biologist interested in the biodiversity and diversification of ants on different spatial and temporal scales. My aim is to explore and document nature in order to increase our understanding of the underlying eco-evolutionary processes that have shaped our planet’s biodiversity. My research broadly encompasses systematics, taxonomy, community ecology, phylogenomics, and population genomics, as well as faunistic surveys of ants.
